Are you on a Journey ...searching?
We respect and encourage each person´s search in a compassionate and non-judgemental manner. We believe that the answers are not found in rigid institutional doctrine, but through strengthening our personal relationships with God in a community of caring people who are also searching.
Here are some of the ways we search together:
- Listening to God
- Children and adult education classes challenge us to think about how God speaks to us in our daily lives. Social issues, current affairs, personal quandaries and faith questions are explored at age appropriate levels.
- Respecting Each Other
- We celebrate that we are diverse and unique individuals who are unified by love. We come from different backgrounds, social experiences, faith journeys, gender preferences and generational groups, yet, we truly enjoy the life experiences we share as a church family - worshiping, laughing, crying, sharing, learning and growing.
- Joyfully Worshiping
- Worship focuses on our personal relationships and our mission together with God in a loving community of faith. We are inspired by the mysteries of hope and promise in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ as we experience thought provoking sermons, prayer, meditation, music, and, quite often, laughter!
- Participating in Mission
- We give to many missions - global, metropolitan and neighborhood - with our time and our financial resources. Here are a few examples:
- reStart
- interfaith ministry with the homeless
- Literacy Kansas City
- adult literacy training
- A Peaceful Place
- a diverse
organization working to establish a multicultural and interfaith education center in the KC area for dialogue and learning regarding diversity issues, social justice issues, peace building and the environment (located in our church)
- Good Samaritan Project
- providing supportive care for people affected by HIV/AIDS
- Christmas in October
- program to upgrade housing for the poor
- CROP Walk
- AIDS Walk
- One Great Hour of Sharing
- Reaching Out to the Community
- We reach out to the community through sponsoring Kristkindl Markt, a German Christmas festival, presenting special music programs, hosting children's events, making our church home available to community groups, and welcoming those who seek support and encouragement on their spiritual journeys.
- Heartfelt Giving
- We believe that we are called to share our resources out of a heartfelt personal commitment, not out of obligation or coercion.
If you would like the spiritual support of a congregation who
- believes that God speaks to us about our personal journeys
- joyfully worships
- celebrates ethnic, social, gender preference or generational differences
- is Open and Affirming
- values your life experience and ideas
- cheerfully gives of its time, talents and resources
- openly welcomes new and diverse viewpoints
- doesn't pretend to know all the answers
...then come search together - with us!
