Open and Affirming
As an Open and Affirming (ONA) congregation, Country Club Congregational United Church of Christ has publicly declared that gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender persons are welcome into the full life and ministry of our church.
CCCUCC and other ONA congregations across the nation believe that God's love, Christ's church, and the Spirit's power are for people of every color, age, ethnicity, gender identity, economic status, and sexual orientation. As the list of churches and other bodies which affirm this grows, so does the proclamation of God's wondrous, inclusive love!
Although the ONA process did not officially begin until 1985, the United Church of Christ has long been a pioneer of inclusivity. In 1972, the UCC became the first mainline church in North America to ordain an openly gay minister.
The ONA movement in the UCC is one of approximately a dozen "Welcoming Church Programs" in North America.
